Description
The building is
an interesting combination of Khmer and French colonial styles.
It was allegedly built in the mid-twenties by the Queen Kossamak,
Sihanouks mother, in order to live closer to the Botum Royal
Pagoda so she could go there to pray anytime.
About Phnom Penh:
The capital of
Cambodia with its b
road
boulevards
and colonial ambiance reflects the era when the French were
present in Indo-China. Located at the confluence of two rivers,
Phnom Penh also has some excellent markets and fine temples.
Most of the hotels are located around the riverside with more
accommodation being rebuilt or renovated as tourism develops.
Places of interest include the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda,
the National Museum and the grisly Tuol Sleng Museum a
reminder of the dark days when Cambodia was ruled by the Khmer
Rouge
